Why are lice harmful?

It does not matter how kind you are, you do not have to offer your head like home for lice. Here are a few reasons:

They are parasites:

If you think that your hair is falling and lice have nothing to do with it then you are terribly wrong. In fact, lice feed on your blood and nutrients. They are like the burglars who take away the property of your hair from them.

Ruins your image:

Can you imagine what a random stranger will think about you when he sees a random insect on your head? Not just any insect but lice? Don’t imagine- it will hurt you.

Itching:

Whether it is a mosquito bite on your body or lice on your head- itching never feels good. Well, it does feel good to itch but not for too long as it starts hurting. And, it is quite uncomfortable to have the urge to itch all the time with lice on your head.

Spreads the pain

I know you are always well-wisher to the near and dear ones. Even strangers are never in a position to be harmed. Lice will change your stance by doing harm to people coming close to you. You will spread the pains of lice around you subconsciously. Lice are harmful not only for you but also for the surrounding people.

How to disinfect hair brushes after lice

In fact, there are a number of ways you can disinfect a hairbrush after a lice infestation. Let’s look at two ways here. And, let us approach in a step by step fashion.

Get rid of the hair on the brush.

The first step to cleaning a hairbrush after a lice attack is getting rid of the loose hairs that are stuck on the brush. This will make the whole cleaning process less gross.

Make Soapy/ Shampoo-y water.

This is a usual part of brush cleansing. However, in case of a lice attack, you have to make sure that you use the right soap or shampoo. Use a shampoo that has ingredients in it that deal with lice- kills it. Apparently, you can use the shampoo you used to get rid of the lice itself.

While such shampoos usually contain pesticides- you do not have to worry much when you use it on a hairbrush.

Brush the brush with a brush.

Use another brush (you can even use a toothbrush) to clean the nook and cranny of your hairbrush. This is quite an efficient method of cleaning. Make sure you spread the soapy water far and wide.

Rinse it well and dry.

Finally, you do not want the remnants of the lice, the soapy water or anything else to stay in the hairbrush when you use it next. Therefore, rinse the hairbrush well. Also, dry the wet hairbrush well as it can make the brush feel weird on your hair.

Instead of this whole method, you can use another one to fine clean the hairbrush after the lice attack:

Different Way

You can give the hairbrush both a cold and hot treatment to do away with any kind of germs. What you can do is the following:

  • Put the hairbrush in the plastic bag.
  • Store it in the refrigerator for 48 hours.
  • Take it out and soak it in hot water.
  • Use soapy water and brush to clean it well.
  • Rinse and dry the brush.

Try Another

Another way you can clean a hairbrush is by using alcohol instead of the shampoo or soap. Apparently, alcohol works as a great disinfectant.

In conclusion

When you are cleaning a hairbrush after a lice attack, it is very necessary to choose the right kind of soap to clean it. Other procedures are quite the same but everything depends on how effective the soapy water is.
