How to Sharpen Makeup Pencil without Sharpener?

You may complete almost everything in different ways. Being not only a minimalist but also awkward situations, you may not get the tools(here sharpeners) you need. Your makeup must not feel the incompletion and imperfection for a makeup pencil sharpener. So, here comes the alternative solutions on How to Sharpen Makeup Pencil without Sharpener. Keep reading, keep exploring.

How to Sharpen Makeup Pencil without Sharpener Using a Scissor?

Well, the favorite way for people to sharpen their makeup pencil whenever they don’t have a sharpener handy is by using scissors. All you have to do is use it as a cutter. Place your makeup pencil in between the blades, then start shaving away. Do it with gentle pressure and do so until you have a desirable pointy tip ready for use.

You may also do the same with a pocket knife or pretty much anything that you can handle with a blade, basically anything sharp. Also, if you have access to a ruler who’s got a hole, you may be able to sharpen your makeup pencil.

It should also apply to the hole on your key or the head of a screw. Just be sure to rotate it properly to sharpen it.

Use a rough surface

The ideal surface is that of sandpaper. You can simply rub the tip of your makeup pencil on sandpaper to sharpen it. Of course, don’t just rub it monotonously but be sure to rotate it to sharpen it evenly.

But we may not expect you to have sandpaper all the time with you or it being accessible, so let’s discuss a few more other options.

If worse comes to worst, then a rough surface like that of concrete or brick wall might be your only solution. Of course, if I were you, I’d think twice because you’re going to use that for your face right after.

How to Sharpen Makeup Pencil without Sharpener Using a Scissor a Nail File?

Wait for what? You don’t have a sharpener, but you have a nail file with you? While that would probably not make sense with men, it is entirely normal for women to have one handy. A nail file is one perfectly accessible alternative for a makeup sharpener.

It’s the better choice since you can use it for both your makeup pencils and your nails, but you can’t use a sharpener for both the mentioned applications, right?

The rough grain on the emery board should then be a great tool to sharpen your makeup pencil’s writing end. Then shave its graphite into a sharper end. Just drag the tip of your makeup pencil down of the nail file, then, of course, don’t forget to rotate accordingly.

The nail file attached to nail clippers is sometimes also rough enough for you to use for your makeup pencils. Also, you may use nail clippers themselves if you don’t have any other choice.

Lastly, while we don’t suggest it, you may use your teeth. Yep, you read that right, and that might sound like a joke but technically applicable. Only, only if it’s a makeup emergency.
